As of 1 July 2009, we have over 30 level 80 characters :D

So a lot of people are getting excited about raiding, and are asking questions about how it'll work. I'd rather you ask questions than do the wrong thing during a raid! We were able to one shot Flame Leviathan in large part because people went by the golden rule of raiding and followed directions. It's not the gear, it's the player.

*****The most important thing to do to get ready for raiding is to download the Deadly Boss Mods add on.***** It will give you audio and visual warnings that will help you do the right thing in a fight.

If you don't know how to install an add on, visit Ask Apadwe.

Be sure to download Ventrilo while you're at it, too.

The second most important thing to do is ensure that you have the best gear you can possibly have. When we first start, I will be taking the people that are the right class for the job in the order of their gear score.  Once a bunch of us have run it as a team, we'll start to rotate new people in. I want to keep things fair, but keep in mind that if we get loot, that's going to be handed out to our Tanks and Healers _first_ so that we can come back and get more loot. I will take folks that have a blue gear score with Warcrafter or that have a line that falls in Naxx 10 on Be Imba. So those sites are

www.warcrafter.net

and

be.imba.hu

Be Imba will give you explicit instructions on what gear needs to be updated, and how it ought to be enchanted. It does the maths so that you don't have to.

About one to two hours before the raid, make sure that you get

Healing Potions
Mana Potions
Repair
Scrolls that are not overwritten by raid buffs
Food that grants a buff
Enchant unenchanted items
Socket gems in empty slots, even if it's a lesser quality cut than what you want

Eat in real life! Make sure that you're all settled in so that you can concentrate for a couple of hours at the computer.

Crafted purples are the fastest way to upgrade your gear. Don't come empty handed if you have a guildie making them - be sure to pull the right materials out of the gv or purchase them from the AH.

PVP in Wintergrasp is another easy way to upgrade your gear, in especial if you're low on gold. These vendor items aren't as good as their PVE equivalents, but they sure help. For the Flame Leviathan, it doesn't matter what the gear actually does, the health of your vehicle will scale SOLELY on gear score. So those ilvl 213 trinkets from Wintergrasp look pretty darn good!

Tier gear is a permanent upgrade that you can purchase through emblems of heroism and emblems of valour. If you run your daily heroic every day for about a week and a half, viola! Gloves :D Soon the emblem system will change in 3.2 to emblems of conquest, opening up even better gear for casual raiders.
