Sometimes virtual life imitates real life. In the spring of 2008 at the Cape Cod and Islands Library Association meeting Conañ attended a stellar workshop on gaming and Libraries. Curious as ever, she discussed the idea of forming a Librarian's Guild after the presenter displayed a heavy interest in World of Warcraft. We *could* have run everything through the proper channels and had a subcommittee formed (I didn't hear a harrumph out of that guy!!!) but it was so much cooler to just do it! So, one fine Saturday morning in late May, The Librarian was formed. In a matter of days, thanks in main part to the generousity of Gwin, and the profits from auction proceeds from Guild Materials, we had multiple Guild Vault tabs. By 7 June, we were celebrating 50 Members. By 7 July, we had 113. On 28 August, Conañ got the Master's Key, and we had 183 members. On 28th October, we ventured into Karazhan as a full guild raiding party and downed Attumen the Huntsman. On 27 February 2009, we entered Naxxramas 10 with 4 Librarians, including a healer and tank, and finished the Arachnid Quarter and downed Noth. The weekend of 15 May 2009, we entered Naxxramas 25 with up to 6 Librarians at a time, always with our tank Gaiusverres, and sometimes with a guild healer or two. Incredibly we downed all bosses excepting the Four Horsemen, Gluth, Thaddius, Sapphiron and Kel Thuzad on our first heroic run! By 1 July 2009, 5 of a 10 man raid on Ulduar were Librarians, including the main tank and main healer. We one shotted the Flame Leviathan and nearly downed the XT despite truly whacky group make up. We enjoy a full range of levels and professions. Be sure to use this website to see who has high skills in a given profession in case you need an item crafted!
Just like in real life, The Librarian is all about community, sharing, learning, and fun! Anyone can learn to read, and any one can learn to raid. | ||
